You can bring someone with you when you come to your appointment at the surgery. This can be helpful if you think you might need some emotional support.
If you have a private or personal exam, a staff member can stay with you as a chaperone. Usually, the doctor or nurse will ask if you want a chaperone before the exam. But if they don’t ask, please feel free to ask them yourself—they won’t mind at all.
Sometimes, a clinician may also ask for a chaperone to be present for everyone’s safety and comfort.
